Multicure Connector Heater
The Fibertron Multicure connector heater provides controlled curing of epoxy used in the termination of fiber optic connectors. This is particularly important in using ceramic connectors where excess temperature can easily crack the glass fiber.
The unit permits controlled curing for up to 24 connectors at one time and can accommodate SC, SMA, ST, FCPC, FDDI FSD, LC and other popular types of connector. Unlike heat guns that can vary greatly and cause large swings in temperature, the Multicure heater permits epoxy to be cured at a lower temperature for a longer period of time. The Multicure has a thermostat that allows the temperature to be set between 60ºC and 120ºC. Each units supplied with a dial gauge thermometer to allow real time temperature recording. When using an epoxy such as Resin Tech RT156 with ceramic connectors, it is recommended a temperature in the range of 80ºC to 90ºC with a cure time in the oven of approximately 15 minutes. Users should, however, follow the Resin Tech instructions and cure by the colour change in the epoxy and not by time. The oven block is interchange-able and blocks are available to accommodate most connector styles. Each Multicure heater is supplied with a power cord making it ready for instant use with the plug style appropriate to the particular country the unit is being shipped to.
