George Papastergiou is the President and CEO of OPTRONICS Technologies SA. and the Coordinator of ASTRON, FOX-C and InSpace FP7 projects. He holds a BSc. in Physics and Electronics with Mathematics and an MSc. in Modern and Applied Optics from the University of Reading, UK. He is a member of the Institute of Physics (IOP), UK, the Optical Society of America (OSA), USA, the Hellenic Optical Society (HELiOS) and International Commission for Optics (ICO). He is author of many articles in the technical press. He is a co-founder of OPTRONICS Technologies SA and has 24 years of experience in Business Development and Product/Services Commercialisation, Project Management on technical, financial and marketing aspects in Private, National and European projects in the areas of Electronics, Optoelectronics, Fibre Optics and Telecommunications.
Ilias Koukouvinos co-leads the project administration activities and is responsible for the RTD contributions. He holds a BSc in Physics from the University of Athens, an MSc in Modern and Applied Optics from the University of Reading, UK and an MBA for International Business from the Univ. of New Hampshire, USA. He is a member of the Hellenic Optical Society (HELiOS), the International Commission for Optics (ICO) and of the Fibre Optic Association (FOA). He is the author of scientific papers and many articles in the technical and telecom business press. He is a co-founder of OPTRONICS Technologies SA and has 24 years of experience in R&D, Prototyping, Product Design, Project Management on technical, financial and marketing aspects in Private, National and European projects in the areas of Optoelectronics and Telecommunications. He is the Vice President and CTO of OPTRONICS Technologies SA.
Dr. Kyriakos Vlachos, is a consultant of OPTRONICS Technologies SA. and is lead scientist in EU R&D projects. He is an Associate Professor at University of Patras, Greece and the Head of the “Photonic Networks and Technology laboratory” (http://ru1photonicslab.cti.gr/). In the past he was a Research Associate at the Computer Engineering laboratory of TU Delft and at the National Technical University of Athens. The period 2001-2003 he was a Member of the Technical Staff at Alcatel-Lucent. Dr. Thanasis Theocharidis (M) received his PhD in designing and simulating optical devices from the University of Athens in 2009. He has more than 5 years of experience in business consulting and project management. Currently he holds the position of Research Project Manager in OPTRONICS Technologies SA.
Dr. Marianna Angelou currently cooperates with OPTRONICS as scientific associate for EC-funded and National collaborative projects. In January 2008 she joined the “High-speed Networks and Optical Communications” Group of Athens Information Technology, as a Research Scientist working within the framework of EU FP7 research projects. She received the Ph.D. degree from Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, Barcelona in April 2012. Her research activities focus on cross-layer optimization techniques for optical networks and cover a broad range of topics in that area including physical layer modelling, energy-efficiency, and networking with flexible/adaptive transmission characteristics. Dr. Angelou has co-authored more than 35 scientific articles that have appeared in international peer-reviewed journals and conferences
Haris Papadopoulos leads the project financial and business management activities. He has a BSc. on Economics (University of LaVerne), MBA (IESE Business School). He has more than 20 years of work experience in the financial services industry. Areas of expertise include risk management, investment evaluation and asset management. He is a certified Derivatives Market Maker (ADEX) and a member of the Hellenic Institute of Financial Management.
